So many golfers these days are looking for the next gadget and gizmo to add yards to their swing they often overlook the most obvious solution to their problem. You see, the most important instrument you bring with you to the course isn't in the bag! It's what's carrying the bag. That's right. It's not that new driver, or those new irons. Your body is the most important tool you bring with you to the golf course. Do you honestly think those pros on the tour couldn't just as easily do what they do with just about any brand of clubs. Now I'm not saying we could all do what they do but the club doesn't make the golfer. The golfer does. So why is it that when trying to improve our game we forget to tune our most important intstrument. Here are a couple tips to get you started for the next time you've schedueled your tee time.

First, lets start with some basics. I don't care if we're talking about golf or football or anyting else for that matter. The most important thing you can do for your body is to eat right. Just putting yourself on a healthy diet will make you feel worlds differently at the course. Increased energy, mental strength and endurance are just some of the benifts you'll be able to take with you to the 18th hole. Also don't forget to hydrate yourself. Leave that 6 pack at home and instead bring with you plenty of water and perhaps some fruit as a snack.

Once you get to the course, start your stretching exercises. Don't wait until you get to the tee box to do this. Because what inevitably happens is you rush yourself trying not to hold anyone up behind you. Once this happens whether you feel it or not your body has not fully warmed up to you wanting to play golf. It may take you 5 or 6 holes before your body's fully functioning correctly. How many shots do you think you've lost to this point? But it doesn't stop there. You've overworked your body in those first few holes and now because of this by the time you've reached the last few holes your body starts to tire. Your technique that you've studied long and hard with your instructor now starts to become sloppy. How many shots do you think you've lost there?

There's so much more you can do to help improve your game, but start there. Work on your flexibility and endurance through fitness. Once you do this you'll find shots you did'nt know you had. You will become more focused and a more complete golfer. Once you've got your body in tune will be able to see more clearly the weakness in your game and begin to improve from there. You will take confidence with you to your instructor the things you need to work on knowing that they weren't a direct result of fatigue. Here's hoping to a better life and a better score.
